Plan for the home your family depends on
A mortgage is one part of your family’s financial picture. Life insurance may help your beneficiaries manage housing costs if you die while coverage is in force.
Start with the need
Consider the remaining loan balance, the years ahead, household income and existing savings or coverage. The right amount may reflect more than the mortgage alone.
Understand the policy
Policies described as mortgage protection can differ. Review whether the benefit stays level or decreases, who receives it, how long coverage lasts and whether premiums can change.
Life insurance is different from private mortgage insurance (PMI), which protects the lender. Some credit life policies pay a creditor directly; other life policies pay named beneficiaries.
Compare costs and limitations
Ask about eligibility, exclusions, renewal terms and any living-benefit riders. Approval and pricing depend on underwriting. Coverage does not automatically eliminate every housing expense or guarantee that a home can be retained.
See how it fits
Compare this need with your broader financial plan and other life insurance questions.
